I have WMA files that I want to convert to MP3 format. I thought I knew how to do this but I guess not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do not have the original source that the music came from. At this time I only have windows media player. If that would help that I get winamp please say that in the instructions.
Again thankyou,

I would recommend a program from nch swift sound called switch. It allows you to convert between many different file types. In the future if you want to use media player to rip your music in mp3 go to the tools menu and options. If you go to the rip tab in that dialog you can choose what file type is used for ripping.
Where do I get this program? And is it accessible with window eyes and or jaws? I did not rip the music got it froma friend so it is not something I could really help. I do rip my music in wmp, and alway in mp3 format. Thanks for all the help!
hmm, if you have winamp do this. Open your folder of files up on it by hitting shift plus L and clicking on the folder or whatever it is. Then, stop the playing, and then hit control P. Then go to the plug-ins branch, expand it, and under output you tab until you come to a list. Select the nullsoft disk writer plug-in and then configure it to your needs. Switch is accessible alright, although there are other converters thtat are just as effective. One of them you can get at:

it is called free mp3 converter and is intuitive and it comes iwht a very flexible and easy to use cd ripper. Hope this helps
I recommend Switch, too. Just put "Switch" NCH into google nad I think it comes up.
I would Recommend using Gold Wave,
this program lets you do batch processing so you could change all yoru WMAs to MP3 all in one go.

you could use itunes, but u may need help with it. Just put the wma files in the library, and go into preferences, go to burning, and change the combo box from AAC to MP3. then go to Advance i think, and select convert selection to MP3.
The url for switch is http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html.
what version of windows do you have. I have xp media center edition, and there's a program that came with it called windows audio converter. All you have to do is right click(applications) on the file and select convert audio file. And then follow the prompts.
Switch can basicly do the same thing; you just have to do a select all command and tell it what folder you want the files to go into. It can take a while for them to convert, but it's easier that way than having to select each individual file and try to convert them separately.
thank you everyone. I have windows xp. I will have to see if I have that windows media converter. And if I do not I will go and download that switch program. Again thank you everyone for all the help. You all are great!
